CLINICS

In 1996, nine members of GNBA traveled to Bura to help build two new clinics. Along with residents and members of the Mwengere group in Bura, we formed bricks, passed stones and helped lay the foundations of the future clinics. It was a wonderful community event in which Americans and Kenyans worked together singing and becoming friends.

Due to lack of funds, it took many years for the Bura community to complete the clinics.   When they were finally finished, GNBA coordinated a project to provide equipment for them and two other clinics in the Bura area.  The project provide much needed equipment such as patient beds and exam tables, lights, desks, medicine cabinets, crutches, wheelchairs, supplies, medical books and laboratory equipment. GNBA obtained the equipment by working with IMEC (International Medical Equipment Collaborative) which receives and recycles used hospital equipment.  GNBA members worked in teams to help clean, and repair equipment and stack and wrap pallets for container shipping.,  The first of two containers was sent to Bura 2005.  The medical supplies filled one half of a forty foot container.  The other half was filled with several thousand book GNBA members had collected and packed to send to school libraries.

GNBA sent two more 40' containers filled with medical, school, farming and sports supplies to Bura in 2008 and 2015.
